The craze of truly wireless earphones in the Indian market is now growing rapidly. In the beginning, true wireless earbuds were expensive, but now companies have started launching it at a cheaper price. Recently, Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Earbuds S in the Indian market. It is priced at Rs 1,799.
Design – Look & Feel
The variants we reviewed of the Redmi Earbuds S are all black. The earbuds are quite lightweight and the box is quite compact. If you keep it in your pocket, you will hardly realise that you have it.
The case of earbuds is made of minor plastic, matte finish, but it doesn’t seem as premium. However, this is fine in terms of the segment of less than Rs 2,000. You’ll see two earbuds as you open the case. The build quality of the case could have been further improved.
Indicators are in buds. If it is red, understand that charging is going on, white, then it is charged. At the top is the branding of the Redmi and the regulatory information on the bottom is given.
The backside of the case has a charging port i.e. micro USB so you can charge it. Scratches are easily found on the case, so you need to use them carefully.
Earbuds are quite light and fit easily in the ears. The advantage of being mild is that they don’t look heavy on the ears. The grip is good, you can run with it, they won’t fall through the ears.
Earbuds start charging as soon as you enter the case and you’ll be ready for connectivity with a mobile or a Bluetooth device.
However, for the first time, both earbuds will have to connect separately with their phones. Once you have connected it to the phone, these earbuds will connect to themselves whenever you remove it from the case and your phone has Bluetooth on. After plugging in to the ears, you will get a notification tone and then the connection will remain stable.
Sound Quality and Calling
Sound quality is the most important thing for any earphones, regardless of the wireless earbuds. If you like the base, you’ll love these budget earbuds.
You’d love to hear it a little less than full volume. You’ll be able to make a difference in listening to Bollywood songs, jazz, hip hop. Noise isolation is average.
In this budget, the audio quality of these earbuds will be better than the average and will not prick the ears. The base is good and the mids are fantastic too. In high, it may bother you a little bit, but the good thing is that the company didn’t overpower it, which is usually seen in the earbuds of this segment.
For audio control, it has tactical buttons that are at the top of the buds. That means there is no capacitive touch, you have to press it to control. In many ways, it’s even better, because accidental touch won’t affect your music or calls.
One problem may also seem to you that there is not much control here. You need a voice assistant to change songs or calling i.e. Google Assistant or Siri. You need to press the earbud for this. In one click, you can pause the song and reduce the latency with a triple-click.
After removing the earbuds from the ears, they will not disconnect themselves from the phone, you will either have to put them in the case or disconnect manually from the phone.
Talking about calling the sound on the other side will be quite clear and its microphones are powerful. Your voice will hear the caller loud and clear.
The Redmi Wireless Earbuds S is priced at Rs 1,799 and will prove to be a value for money for you.
