Google removed MobiKwik app from Google Play store

Digital payment app MobiKwik has been removed from the Google Play store and the main reason behind this is to violate the App Store’s add-on policy. While according to MobiKwik CEO Bipin Preet Singh, it has been removed from the Play store because it has an Aarogya Setu app link. Bipin Preet says MobiKwik received a warning from Google a week ago to promote Aarogya Setu, but then he said it was a mistake. However, the app was then removed from Google Play.

MobiKwik CEO Bipin Preet Singh shared the information through a post on his Twitter account stating that ” our app has been removed from the Google Play store. Google has done this because our app has an Aarogya Setu app link that informs you of coronavirus infection. To do this, we were asked by the regulators and understand it in the public health interest. ‘

However, MobiKwik has now been restored to the Google Play Store, and users can download and use it easily. In a tweet, Singh had informed that fintech firms were asked by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to include a link to the Arogya Setu, which is also a very essential step to install the contact tracing application. This app has been downloaded more than 10 crore times. You can see that other apps like Paytm also include links to Aarogya Setu on both Android and iOS platforms. Let’s say that through the MobiKwik app you can also avail of many of the essential services besides making payments. This includes a number of facilities like grocery, health care, dairy products.
